The All-American Rejects Drop New Single “Me Vs. The World”

Last month, The All-American Rejects promised fans a new single was coming, and today it’s finally here! Their first release since July 2019, the band just shared their standalone single, “Me Vs. The World.” While it’s a fun song, it also supports a serious cause. All proceeds from this single “will be donated to MusiCares to help those in the music industry who have been out of work since March.”

Although the single feels pretty relevant this year, frontman Tyson Ritter and guitarist Nick Wheeler actually wrote it a few years ago. Along with the rest of the band, they finished the track this year from their respective homes.

“Me Vs. The World” is an over-the-top, cheeky song, much in the vein of “Gives You Hell.” It builds on jangling piano, over which Tyson Ritter sings hilariously with exaggerated affectation. It grows bombastic on the chorus, Tyson taunting us with how great he and his life are compared to ours. “Me Vs. The World” is a showy and fun song that fans will find irresistible.

The Latest from The All-American Rejects

In a new interview with Alternative Press, Nick Wheeler spoke about how “Me Vs. The World” came together:

It was written quarantine-style a few years ago when [singer] Tyson [Ritter] and I were doing our part separately. And our keyboard player Scott Chesak co-wrote it as well and produced the track. We never got around to finishing it, and then lockdown hit, and we were all looking at free time on our schedule. So we decided to finally finish it and turn it into something. It ended up being a cool thing, not just for us to do, but to be able to put out there since we weren’t able to do literally anything for fans this year.

When we talked about putting something out, I was like, “We should do something for all the people who are out of work, not just ourselves, but our crew, every crew in the industry.” [This is] the one industry that, for some reason, is not allowed to come back. They figured out how to do sports. There’s some live music. But not every genre can get away with putting on a show at a drive-in theater, outside in a park or at a winery. Not every genre really fits those venues.

However, don’t get your hopes up about more Rejects music: The band hasn’t prepared anything else lately. As Nick explained:

As far as Rejects stuff, this is the only thing we’ve worked on. We’ve used tools like this in the past to send ideas back and forth. But this is the first time we actually proved to ourselves that we could execute it. So maybe in the future when we’re all in different cities—and now Tyson‘s in a different country—this is definitely going to be useful now that we know we can actually see something through the fruition.

July 16, 2019Listen / Music / Music Videos / New EPs / News / Singles / The All-American Rejects / WatchThe All-American Rejects are back with their first new songs in two years. Following their 2017 release of “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes,” the band just dropped a new EP with three songs: “Send Her To Heaven,” “Gen Why? (DGAF),” and “Demons.” We’ve been anticipating hearing each of these tracks for a few years, and they were so worth the wait! The titular track of the EP, “Send Her To Heaven” opens the set. We first heard a preview of the song in The All-American Rejects’ documentary called Rejected. Though it may have sounded innocent enough before, we can now hear the torment of the lyrics. Over a loping mid-tempo beat, frontman Tyson Ritter sings about a girl named Molly who struggles with substance abuse. It’s a tragic story with a hope for something better. Next up is a song The All-American Rejects began playing live in 2016. Originally known as “DGAF,” the title has been updated to “Gen Why? (DGAF).” Out of the three songs, this is the silliest and most tongue-in-cheek, harkening back to the vibe of “Gives You Hell.” Tyson sings about destructive behavior that millennials – the band’s own generation – may engage in. In late 2016, the band was plotting a music video for “Gen Why? (DGAF)”; it’s unclear if that video was filmed or will be released. Finally, the EP ends with “Demons” (previously known as “Running From My Demons”). Like “Send Her To Heaven,” we first heard a preview of this in the Rejected documentary. In keeping with the EP’s theme, the lyrics here are melancholy, but they move in a more introspective direction. However, in contrast to the deceptively cheerful music on the firs two tracks, the instrumentation this time matches the mood of the lyrics. Listen to the three songs on the new “Send Her To Heaven” EP here: Along with the new EP, The All-American Rejects also shared a music video for “Send Her To Heaven.” The lyrics come to life here as we watch Molly fall into self-destructive behavior. She parties all night, but she’s avoiding a guy who looks like an astronaut. Interspersed, we watch as the band members’ silhouettes perform against a red backdrop, maintaining a sense of mystique and otherworldliness. By the video’s end, Molly has overdosed and finds that the astronaut man was actually there to help her. The All-American Rejects Over The Years The last music we heard from The All-American Rejects was their “Sweat”/”Close Your Eyes” single in summer 2017. Although the band had planned to release an album that fall, and then later in spring 2018, the plan was ultimately put on hold. In February 2018, The All-American Rejects parted ways with their label, Interscope. Following the split, frontman Tyson Ritter started sharing updates about his own solo music. It seemed that the band was taking a bit of a break, at least from releasing anything new. The All-American Rejects’ last album, Kids In The Street, came out early in 2012. The music was more experimental, and despite their clear growth, the singles and album didn’t fare as well as previous efforts. The band went quiet for a few years, only releasing a new song, “There’s A Place,” in fall 2015. It appeared in the film Miss You Already, in which Tyson acted. The band started recording new music in spring and summer 2016, playing “DGAF” live that year. Along with two other songs previewed on their Rejected documentary in 2017 – “Send Her To Heaven” and “Running From My Demons” – we now have all three known All-American Rejects songs. They were worth the wait! Enjoy the new “Send Her To Heaven” EP and music video! There’s no word on whether a full-length album is also still in the works. In any case, we’re excited to finally have “Send Her To Heaven,” “Gen Why? (DGAF),” and “Demons.” Keep playing the new songs, and as always, keep checking back here for all the latest All-American Rejects music news. July 8, 2019Album Announcements / New Releases / News / The All-American RejectsAfter two quiet years, The All-American Rejects are back! The band has spent the last week teasing new music – something they promised us back in January – and today they finally shared the news: They’re about to release a new song, “Send Her To Heaven,” along with a music video and a full EP! Next week, on July 16th, we’ll get to hear their new music. Check out their exciting announcement below: SEND HER TO HEAVEN VIDEO & EP OUT 7/16 ON ALL PLATFORMS. pic.twitter.com/4TUfcqzr8X — THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS (@therejects) July 8, 2019 We’ve actually heard part of “Send Her To Heaven” already. Two years ago, shortly after releasing their songs “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes” (both of which soundtracked an accompanying short film), The All-American Rejects also put out a documentary called Rejected. Within the documentary, fans could hear previews of two songs: “Send Her To Heaven” and “Running From My Demons.” Although the band had planned to release an album that fall, and then later in spring 2018, the plan was ultimately put on hold. In February 2018, The All-American Rejects parted ways with their label, Interscope. Following the split, frontman Tyson Ritter started sharing updates about his own solo music. The band started recording new music in spring and summer 2016. Fans already got to hear one full new song from those summer sessions; they’ve only played “DGAF” live, but as of December 2016, its music video was planned and coming together. A studio version of the song should be on a forthcoming album – or perhaps the EP that’s coming next week! There’s no word yet on how many songs will appear on The All-American Rejects’ upcoming EP, or if a full-length album is also still in the works. In any case, we’re excited to finally hear “Send Her To Heaven” – from the preview it already sounds like a great track. Get ready to hear the band’s new songs and see the new music video in just one week. For now, keep checking back here for all the latest All-American Rejects music news. September 22, 2017Behind The Scenes Videos / Listen / News / Song Previews / The All-American Rejects / WatchTwo months ago, the All-American Rejects made their big comeback with two new songs, “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes,” from their long-awaited upcoming record. The two songs came with an ambitious video, starring frontman Tyson Ritter as both Betsy and Robert. Besides their 2015 movie track, “There’s A Place,” these are the first new All-American Rejects songs since the band released Kids In The Street in 2012. In the five years that have passed, the Rejects took a much-needed break, allowing themselves to live their lives and explore other interests until the music called them back. Their new mini-documentary, Rejected, explains all. The All-American Rejects even tease a few new songs in the clip. Watch as Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty, and Chris Gaylor offer fans a glimpse into their world. Besides “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes,” the band also previews new songs supposedly called “Running From My Demons” and “Send Her To Heaven.” Check out Rejected below: It’s been a long process getting to this point. July 7, 2017Listen / Music Videos / News / Singles / The All-American Rejects / WatchAfter months of teasing, The All-American Rejects have finally released their highly anticipated new singles. Yes, they shared not one, but TWO new songs. “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes” both appear in a new music video that doubles as a short film. The more upbeat of the two songs, “Sweat” starts the video with frontman Tyson Ritter dressed in drag. He goes by the name of Betsy, and struts around a nighttime street dancing and looking to pick up a client. The night ends, and we later see Tyson as Robert, peeling off his fake eyelashes as he heads home in a BMW supercar. “Close Your Eyes” sets the tone, more somber and reflective. Robert joins a group of family and friends for a classy daytime party, but trouble seems to lurk below the pristine surface. Watch the short film for “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes” below: It’s been a long process getting to this point. The All-American Rejects’ last album, Kids In The Street, came out early in 2012. June 29, 2017Album Announcements / News / Teaser Videos & Trailers / The All-American Rejects / WatchBack in April, All-American Rejects lead singer Tyson Ritter hinted that the band’s new single, “Sweat,” would be out one month later. May only brought a tour announcement with Dashboard Confessional. Finally, the All-American Rejects started teasing the new song again earlier this month. They even started sharing some lyrical previews. Now, Billboard confirms that The All-American Rejects are releasing TWO new songs: “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes.” You can hear a preview of the new music in the “Sweat” trailer they shared today. The new songs will be out next Friday, July 7th. Billboard also caught up with Tyson Ritter, who spoke about the band’s quiet hiatus and their upcoming full-length album. He said that their 2012 album, Kids In The Street, was never meant to be their last. The All-American Rejects always intended to make another album. They simply needed a break and a chance to live their lives. Tyson got married, and has explored acting in TV shows and movies. But eventually they were ready to make new Rejects music again. Tyson described their new song, “Close Your Eyes”: When I was in L.A. with my feet at my little red piano, I established this relationship with a guy down the street named Benny Cassette. For “Close Your Eyes” he had a handful of tracks — he is a great producer — and he called me up. I was like, “This is great. This is makes me feel uncomfortable, you just proposing something like this, so send ‘em my way. I’ve never tried anything like this.” The closest I had ever gotten to co-writing before was with Rivers for the Raditude record. Benny’s track had this groove where I felt like I was pulling myself back into the ‘90s in a fun way. Something felt really nostalgic about “Close Your Eyes” for me, so I went with it. Even lyrically, I’m proud of finding some sort of depth with that song that I don’t think I’ve grabbed on with previous Rejects tracks. Billboard confirms a new full All-American Rejects album this fall. Tyson explained: We’ve got six tracks on wax. This pairing, “Close Your Eyes” and “Sweat,” is a tasting. This is the sauvignon blanc and this is the cabernet. It’s not going to be the same Rejects record because it never is, if you’ve listened to one of our records. This time, to me, the visual offering is so important. The last five years of learning my craft as an actor and really developing that side of being a visual artist in that way has made me realize how important that really is — to put the eyes to the ears. This is going to be more of a visual experience. This record is going to be about your eyes and the headphones. Read the full interview over at Billboard. “Sweat” will be out next Friday, July 7th. Check out its trailer below: It’s been a long process getting to this point. The All-American Rejects started recording in spring and summer 2016. They entered the studio again last January. June 28, 2017News / The All-American RejectsNearly three months ago, All-American Rejects lead singer Tyson Ritter hinted that the band’s new single, “Sweat,” would be out one month later. May came and went with no song and no news other than a tour announcement. Finally, the All-American Rejects started teasing the new song again earlier this month. We know “Sweat” will be out sometime in July, though the exact date is still a mystery. The All-American Rejects have continued teasing sneak peeks of the new music video, and have even started sharing some lyrics. We now know the following lines from “Sweat”: From the tongue it slips, some simple twist of fate to shape and shake the room we’re standing in. I remember then a silence held me like weightless in the tonic of you once again. Ignorance was bliss, ignorance was this we could exist and then surrender. Do you remember? It looks like the “Sweat” music video is set at a classy house party. April 19, 2017Blogs / Listen / The All-American Rejects / Watch / Welcome To... WednesdaysWho doesn’t love The All-American Rejects? The band started in the early 2000s with their self-titled debut. In 2005, The All-American Rejects garnered tons of attention with their hit singles, “Dirty Little Secret,” “Move Along,” and “It Ends Tonight,” all from their second album, Move Along. They earned a hit again in 2008 with “Gives You Hell” from When The World Comes Down. Their last album, 2012’s Kids In The Street, didn’t produce such big hits, but it is an excellent (and underrated) record. Take it from us: You should get into The All-American Rejects if you haven’t already. Here are some of The All-American Rejects’ most popular singles and best deep cuts, taken from their four albums, plus a few extra releases. Start with these 25 tracks: From their 2002 debut, The All-American Rejects: “Swing, Swing” “Time Stands Still” “My Paper Heart” “Happy Endings” “The Last Song” From their hit second album, Move Along (plus two b-sides): “Dirty Little Secret” “Stab My Back” “Move Along” “It Ends Tonight” “Top Of The World” “Can’t Take It” “Kiss Yourself Goodbye” “Bite Back” From their third album 2008’s When The World Comes Down (plus one extra): “Gives You Hell” “I Wanna” “Fallin’ Apart” “Breakin'” “Another Heart Calls” “Back To Me” “Sierra’s Song” From their 2012 album, Kids In The Street: “Someday’s Gone” “Walk Over Me” “Out The Door” “Gonzo” “Drown Next To Me “   What do you think of those 25 songs? Any songs you think we should have included in our list? Let us know in the comments below! If this playlist got you excited about The All-American Rejects, you’ll be even more thrilled to learn about their upcoming EP! In a few weeks, they’ll release a single called “Sweat,” with a full EP to follow. Last year, the band debuted a song called “DGAF” which may appear on the EP. April 1, 2017News / The All-American RejectsIt may be April Fool’s day, but this is not a drill: The All-American Rejects’ first single from their upcoming EP is finished and ready for us! Don’t get too excited – we can’t watch it yet. But frontman Tyson Ritter did confirm that the lyric video is not for their 2016 song, “DGAF.” Instead, the EP’s first single is a new song called “Sweat.” The band recorded “Sweat” in January this year. Just watched the final cut of our lyric video for our first single…. im so happy — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) March 30, 2017 @phatinnn Nope — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) March 31, 2017 View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) on Apr 1, 2017 at 11:55am PDT   It looks like “Sweat” will be out on Monday, May 1st. Tyson shared a short clip of “Sweat” in February; listen below: It’s been a long process getting to this point. The band started recording last spring and summer. They entered the studio again this January. So far, fans have gotten to hear one full new song from the summer sessions. They’ve only played “DGAF” live, but a studio version should be on the new EP. (Unless it was scrapped.) As of December, its music video was planned and coming together. Tyson has also shared snippets of three songs they recorded in January, lyrics to a new track, and then one more song preview a few weeks ago. In only one month, fans will finally get to hear the band’s new EP, starting with “Sweat” as the first single. While we wait for May to arrive, enjoy the Rejects’ latest song, “There’s A Place,” from the film Miss You Already. Look for Tyson in it! Stay up-to-date on all the band’s album updates here. March 17, 2017In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsThings are officially coming together, All-American Rejects fans! After sharing some new song previews last month and a new one just a few days ago – not to mention some new lyrics – it looks like the band’s new EP finally has a release date. Or at least a release month. Last month Tyson Ritter suggested that new music may be coming in April. But that plan was challenged a few weeks ago, if his tweets are anything to go by: Today is a big day for @therejects. We shall see… — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 27, 2017 (Per my last tweet)…. we find out if we get to release tunes this spring or…… much later. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 27, 2017 The quest. the curse. The same. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 27, 2017 Update- the answer I was waiting on yesterday got moved to Friday… what sucks more? The vacuum of space — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 28, 2017 Tyson never revealed the answer he should have gotten that Friday, March 3rd. Until now, that is. Apparently, the new Rejects EP should be coming out in May rather than April: Then May it is….. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) March 17, 2017 So far, fans have gotten to hear one full song from the new EP. They’ve only played “DGAF” live, but a studio version – and a music video – are forthcoming. Tyson has also shared snippets of three songs they recorded in January, lyrics to a new track, and then one more song preview a few days ago. In about two months, fans will finally get to hear the band’s new EP.  Tyson didn’t specify when exactly in May we’ll hear the new songs. Hopefully we’ll get it earlier in the month. While we wait, enjoy the Rejects’ latest song, “There’s A Place,” from the film Miss You Already. Look for Tyson in it! Stay up-to-date on all the band’s album updates here. March 12, 2017In The Studio / Listen / News / Song Previews / The All-American RejectsLast month Tyson Ritter shared snippets of three brand new All-American Rejects songs. Now he’s back with one more! Today he shared a 15-second preview of a new song. It’s softer and more mellow than the other three song clips we got. It also sounds a bit more somber, yet the music is atmospheric and light. Listen to the clip below. It sounds like Tyson sings the following lyrics: You are gone And you said it That’s when I know, that’s when I know, that’s when I know Now that I forget it The day you said it What do you think of the new song preview? This might be the most intriguing one yet! So far, fans have gotten to hear one full song from the new EP. They’ve only played “DGAF” live, but a studio version – and a music video – are forthcoming. Besides this new one, Tyson has also shared snippets of three other songs they recorded in January, as well as lyrics to a new track. In about the next couple of months, fans will finally get to hear the band’s new EP. While we wait, enjoy the Rejects’ latest song, “There’s A Place,” from the film Miss You Already. February 15, 2017In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsLast week, Tyson Ritter of The All-American Rejects shared some previews of three new songs the band recorded in January. These songs – as well as those they recorded last summer – are set to appear on a new EP later this year. Now we know a little bit more about the music and when we can hear it thanks to Tyson. First, Tyson confirmed that the new Rejects songs are “just plain FUN to listen to.” This makes sense, given how their new song “DGAF” sounds. Although we’ve only heard it live, a music video is in the works. He also revealed that the new music may be out as soon as April! Last nights Grammy's made me really happy to be putting out music that is just plain FUN to listen to. They're talking about April….? — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 13, 2017 Then today, Tyson excited fans even more with some possible song lyrics: It comes and goes around, Burn your bridges down,Kiss the ground and turn the other cheek. Close your eyes one last time for me — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 15, 2017 It comes and goes around Burn your bridges down Kiss the ground and turn the other cheek Close your eyes one last time for me Those lyrics weren’t in any of the song snippets we heard last week. Is it part of one of those tracks, or from another one we haven’t heard yet? In a few months – possibly in April – fans will finally get to hear the band’s new EP.  While we wait, enjoy the Rejects’ latest song, “There’s A Place,” from the film Miss You Already. February 6, 2017In The Studio / Listen / News / Song Previews / The All-American RejectsThe All-American Rejects just spent the last few weeks of January recording 3 new songs. These songs will mostly likely appear on their upcoming EP, due in the next few months. Luckily, fans don’t have to wait to hear the new tunes – Tyson Ritter just shared snippets of them! He promised he would preview the choruses of the new songs on his Snapchat, and he kept his word. I'm gonna preview all the new songs chorus bits on my snapchat today. Look lively #dgaf — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 5, 2017 Tyson shared previews of three new songs on his Snapchat. Special thanks to the YouTube user NoStoppingMe for putting these Snapchat snippets on YouTube. In the first song snippet, it builds up into a big chorus about… sweating. Tyson sings, “Turning blue, the way I make you sweat, sweat, sweat. I’m making you sweat.” Listen to the 9-second preview below. The second song has a chanted chorus that sounds like, “I’m gone, straight into heaven, straight into heaven.” It’s a bit more mid-tempo than the first song. The third song sounds a little heavier, both musically and lyrically. It has a slower, darker mood. Meanwhile, Tyson sings: “Because I’m running from my demon. They keep on…”. We’ll have to wait for the full song to hear what the demons keep on doing. Those are certainly some exciting new tracks! We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to hear the songs in full! Which one are you most excited about? The three songs should appear on the Rejects’ upcoming EP. Last summer, the band recorded some songs that were also intended for the 5-6 song set. They premiered one of those songs, “DGAF,” live while on tour last July. There have also been talks about a music video for “DGAF,” so we can look forward to seeing that soon, too. In a few months, fans will finally get to hear the band’s new EP.  While we wait, enjoy the Rejects’ latest song, “There’s A Place,” from the film Miss You Already. Look for Tyson in it! December 14, 2016In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsLast summer, The All-American Rejects debuted a new song live on tour. “DGAF” is a fun, carefree song told “from the perspective of a 20-year-old privileged girl,” according to frontman Tyson Ritter. July 22, 2016Listen / Live Performances / Live Recordings / News / The All-American Rejects / WatchAfter months of recording, the All-American Rejects are finally ready to share some new music with their fans! Last night at a concert in San Diego, the band debuted a new song called “DGAF.” The new single is not yet available in studio quality, but it should be released soon. The All-American Rejects have been recording for most of the year, and a new album – or EP – should be coming out in the next few months. “DGAF” has a loose piano-driven sound. It’s reminiscent of the band’s 2008 single, “What The Hell,” and both have distinctly tongue-in-cheek lyrics. “DGAF” talks about forgetting your problems and free-fall with pills, drinks, and friends. You can hear the Rejects’ debut performance of the song below: Frontman Tyson Ritter had previously hyped up the single on Twitter. He announced that the Rejects would be playing “DGAF” in San Diego that Thursday: 1 day until we announce the new Rejects Single title AND play it live for 20,000 people. June 29, 2016In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsThe All-American Rejects have been teasing a new album since 2014. More than two years after they released Kids In The Street, Nick Wheeler said that they planned to record a spontaneous, quick album. Nine months later, Tyson Ritter and Mike Kennerty publicly tweeted about starting the songwriting process. Last fall we got a new song called “There’s A Place,” but the new album is still M.I.A. Finally, in April, The All-American Rejects officially entered the studio to work on the new music! The band has continued to share updates on the new music. April 22, 2016In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsThe All-American Rejects have been teasing a new album since 2014. Now, it looks like The All-American Rejects are finally in the studio! Tyson and Nick hinted at a few music-related details in the last two months: Just sent @nickolaswheeler a song. ?? — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 18, 2016 @Chris__Davidson – so long as you never relate time to creativity. Deal? We are working on something much bigger than a record. Patience. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 20, 2016 That being said, I'm pretty stoked to drop some hooks on these tracks @TEENWOLFREMIX sent me. Thanks Twitter for the connectivity. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) February 20, 2016 View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nickolas Wheeler (@nickolas_wheeler) on Mar 15, 2016 at 4:53pm PDT   But now the has band finally entered the studio to seriously work on new music! Otherwise, it’s a safe bet to expect it in 2017. Stay up-to-date on all their album updates here. Keep checking back here for all the latest music news. October 29, 2015Listen / Music / Music Videos / News / Singles / The All-American Rejects / WatchIt’s been more than three years since the All-American Rejects have put out new music, but their new single “There’s A Place” was worth the wait. Tyson Ritter wrote the song for the upcoming comedy-drama film, Miss You Already, in which he also acts alongside Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore. The movie was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and will be out in just one week. “There’s A Place” is a somber, reflective song of unrequited love and hard goodbyes. It has a more stripped-down musical style with soft drums and bass and strummed guitar. The music video features Tyson wandering a dark street with only his guitar for company, looking in the window to see a woman he seems to long for. Throughout the video, Tyson ages until his hair is all white and his face is filled with wrinkles: Time has passed and he’s still waiting, stuck in the past. The rest of the band plays calmly in an alley, not feeling those harsh effects of time. Watch the filmic “There’s A Place” music video below: Over the last week, Tyson Ritter took to Facebook to explain the inspiration behind “There’s A Place.” It was the first song he had written in two years – since the release of the All-American Rejects’ fourth album, Kids In The Street – and it came to him quickly. He wrote out a detailed explanation and filmed two short videos about how “There’s A Place” came to him and what it means: Miss You Already will be in theaters on November 6th, starring Tyson Ritter alongside Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore. As with the music video, the movie was directed by Catherine Hardwicke. You can download “There’s A Place” on iTunes now. The All-American Rejects have not mentioned any concrete plans about a new album, but hopefully “There’s A Place” is just the start of new music from the band. September 30, 2015In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsAfter a few quiet years, it looks like the All-American Rejects are gearing up to release new music soon. It’s been more than three years since they released their fourth album, Kids In The Street, and although they talked about recording a new album in 2014, there were delays. The band started talking about new music earlier this year, and frontman Tyson Ritter kept busy by joining some movie and TV show projects. Now the band is starting to get back into full music mode with a new song and music video coming this fall. Over the last week, Tyson Ritter teased fans on Twitter about a new All-American Rejects music video. He did not state what song it is for or when it was filmed, but he promises we will hear more about it at the end of October: I MAY have just seen a final cut of a new rejects music video…… — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 25, 2015 I should have some good news about getting to share this new music-video will all my friends tomorrow. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 27, 2015 The good news I have to share is that there will be something sweet we get to share around the end of October..more news coming this week! — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 29, 2015 Tyson has also been busy writing songs. He has confirmed that a new track called “Into My Heart” is not for the All-American Rejects, but did not reveal what the song will be used for. Just finished another demo, think its called "into my heart". Cool beans — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 29, 2015 And it totally has a reggaeton beat throughout it. Yep. No shame. Groove-move. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 29, 2015 .@EddyReject – I was NOT talking about new Rejects tunes, I'm a songwriter for goodness sake, Nick is doing the same in Nashville now. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 30, 2015 Nonetheless, Tyson did share his idea of a good album title. It’s unclear if Calypso will be the name of a new Rejects album. Calypso…. Like the BEST name for a record. I'm takin it. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) September 29, 2015   In case you missed it, earlier this month, the band announced that their new song, “There’s A Place,” will appear in the upcoming film Miss You Already. Tyson Ritter is also acting in the movie. Although he planned to share the full song on SoundCloud, he doesn’t have permission to do so yet; we can hear only part of “There’s A Place” in the Miss You Already trailer below: The All-American Rejects are playing some shows this fall, but have not confirmed whether they have been or will begin recording new music for a full album. Last year Nick Wheeler stated that they wanted to record a quick album in fall 2014, but that evidently did not happen. Either way, we have at least one new song with “There’s A Place” coming soon. The new music video – which may be for “There’s A Place” or another new song – will be out in late October, and hopefully there will be more All-American Rejects news then. May 8, 2015In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsLast August, Nick Wheeler from The All-American Rejects talked about the band’s plans for their fifth album, saying they wanted to record something quick and spontaneous. They’ve been fairly quiet since then, but now it looks like they’re getting ready to start writing and recording! Singer Tyson Ritter and guitarist Mike Kennerty teasingly tweeted back and forth about their plans the next All-American Rejects record. Sorry, we are just at an airport talking about a new record. No big deal….. (You know ya wanna) — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 2, 2015 @tysonritter That was a helluva talk. Quadruple LP! It's gonna be a great 4 years of recording… — Mike Kennerty (@mikeaar) May 2, 2015 .@mikeaar – what you said about recording the next LP was so right on. Don't forget you promise NOT to sample Nick at Nite TV themes. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 2, 2015 Im pretty sure This beard will be writing the next reject record while I'm sleeping. #itsSelfAware — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 4, 2015 Although the All-American Rejects’ next album is finally in the early stages of formation, it looks like it won’t be recorded immediately. Tyson Ritter has been cast in the HBO miniseries, Lewis and Clark, and will be recording through the summer. To look the part of his character, Tyson cannot cut his hair or shave his beard for the next six months. Tyson has also announced his plans to make an independent movie with his friend Jamie Holt. If their Indigogo campaign goes well, Kilgore Soupe will likely begin recording in the next year. Rest assured, although Tyson will be busy with his acting, he and the rest of the band will still be working on their fifth album: Cleaning up this Hook I wrote last week.. Pretty darn catchy little anthem, thought you'd be happy to hear. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 7, 2015 I ship up to Calgary for the next 6 months on the 17th. THAT should be interesting. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 7, 2015 Plan on chiseling at the rough stone of the next record in my down time up there. — Tyson Ritter (@tysonritter) May 7, 2015 Update: Another tweet from the official Rejects account quoting Mike: Did someone say new #AAR music?!?! ? https://t.co/WrqhQpSjjA — ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS (@therejects) June 10, 2015   There’s no specific timeframe yet for how long this will take. The band is just getting started, and the writing and demoing process can be lengthy before even beginning to officially record. Although Nick said they wanted to record spontaneously, it looks like The All-American Rejects are pursuing a more traditional route. Hopefully the new All-American Rejects album will be ready by next year. Stay up-to-date on all their album updates here. Keep checking back here for all the latest music news. August 1, 2014In The Studio / News / The All-American RejectsIt’s been a couple of years since the All-American Rejects have released new music. Their last album, Kids In The Street, came out in March 2012, and showed the band maturing and experimenting with their sound. Since then, the band members have spent a year and a half relaxing a bit and living their lives. They were all ready for a break and a chance to catch their breaths. Frontman Tyson Ritter found time to marry his girlfriend over the New Year, and now the band is getting back into gear, refreshed and re-energized. Guitarist Nick Wheeler spoke to Lehigh Valle Live about the All-American Rejects’ casual touring of late – and their plans to start recording their next album. He says they want to take a more “in-the-moment” approach to writing and recording the next record: Tyson and I have been talking about it. We’re excited to do this record differently. Be more spontaneous and have more fun. I’m excited about having a fresh idea and going into the studio that week and turning it into something. Make it a process of days instead of months. You hear all these romantic stories about jam sessions (in the studio) that turned into something, capture the moment. … I think we’re excited to take one of those moments, if we can, and be in the moment. Wheeler doesn’t listen to the current music much, and prefers to create songs that come more from their own ideas rather than recycled trends in the contemporary music scene. He also mentioned he would like to make music spontaneously instead of re-working songs they started months earlier. It sounds like the All-American Rejects may have a fairly quick recording process once they do enter the studio. They will start working on their new album this fall, so keep checking back for more news on their progress. Author Recent Posts Hidden Jams Hidden Jams is a music blog for super fans.
