Natasha Bedingfield – Strip Me
Natasha Bedingfield’s third studio album, Strip Me, was released in the United States and Canada on December 7, 2010. Europe later got the album – renamed Strip Me Away – on May 13, 2011. The first single, “Touch,” was a dance pop anthem about chance leading to love. It had all the makings of a hit, but was not popular on radio. Natasha then released the title track as a single, but “Strip Me” faired only a little better, barely cracking the Hot 100. Any plans to release “Weightless” as the third single were abandoned. The lack of radio hits left Strip Me with little promotion, and the album only reached number 103 on the Billboard 200 albums chart – a full 100 positions lower than her previous record. Critics were harsh on the album, calling it safe, single-minded, and too inspirational. Nonetheless, Strip Me deserved better. It is a lovely album that shows growth and maturity while retaining the magic that made Natasha’s previous albums. The songs are empowering yet endearing, and it will forever be a mystery why Strip Me didn’t catch on.
